We were happy at first but only a few months in we are having software or electrical issues and it doesnt seem like it will be repaired anytime soon. Not confidence inspiring to say the least.

Electrical issues
PostedMay 21, 2015
Hot tub is comfortable, I am uncertain about the quality of the tub since we are having electrical problems only a few months in. I get the impression a fix is going to take several weeks if we are lucky. Not what I paid $9500 for.

Hot Springs Brand - My Top Pick!
PostedMarch 8, 2015
I'm on my third Hot Springs Spa in the last 20 years! When asked about my spa from potential buyers, I steer them to Hot Springs Brand for the following attributes: Therapeutic benefits and how Hot Springs builds individual seating positions for each area of your body/muscles, Outstanding service after the sale - even though it is rarely needed. I'm on my third Hot Springs Spa - 1 Envoy and 2 Sovereigns - Love them and so do my neighbors kids and the buyers of my homes when I move.
"Why take a two week vacation when you can vacation in your own backyard 365 days a year" - my favorite HS advertising tag line and it's true.

10 Years with a Sovereign - A Look Back
PostedNovember 24, 2014
As I was cleaning my spa today I realized we have had it for over 10 years now. The time flies. And I realize it has been so easy to care for that it doesn't seem that we have had it for that long.
in 2004 we were rebuilding our deck and decided that we would include an area for a hot tub. We are so glad we did. We decided on Hot Springs after looking at spas from many different manufacturers and talking to experienced spa owners. We chose a Sovereign which seemed about the right size for our lifestyle. We opted against an UV ozonator at the time because we had heard that their useful life of the UV bulb was short.
We started with the Baqua chemical system and used it for several years, but it was tricky with our hard water and we never had a crystal clear spa. About 5 years ago we installed a retrofit ozonator which no longer work by UV light, and switched to chlorine. We instantly had crystal clear water and haven't looked back. It is very inexpensive and keeps the water very clear months.
Over the years we have had very few repairs with the Sovereign, and most were covered under warranty. And we never even noticed a blip on our energy usage. Most impressive is that snow remains on the cover, if undisturbed, for as long as it does on the surrounding deck.
Our shell is still in perfect condition so we expect to get many more years out of the hot tub. But when we replace it, it will be with a Hot Springs.

What a wonderful, thoughtful review of the Sovereign spa! Thanks for that. Glad to hear that you discovered the ease and benefits of an ozonator on the spa. This is a great oxidizer that allows you to use less chemical granules to keep the spa sanitized. If the snow buildup on the cover is wet snow, we do recommend brushing it off so that it does not soak into the cover over time. If you have a photo or two of this lovely spa setting, please consider posting them on our Facebook page; we'd love to see them there!

Disappointed in the 2014
PostedAugust 13, 2014
We are the proud and pretty happy owners of a 2013 Sovereign at our Fl residence. Based on that experience and being told repeatedly in both locations that there were really no changes, we bought a 2014 for our summer home. Sadly there were lots of changes and they are almost all for the worse. No second control panel. Color choices are much fewer and much less interesting. Very noisy diverter control (HS techs know about it and have no solution to offer), new up adjustable calf jets added to the lounger which prevent you from staying down in the lounger, no foot ledge in the lounger, so it is no where near as comfortable as the 2013 lounger. Cup rests on the rim were completely eliminated. The metallic rings around the ylittle, non-adjustable jets pop off at random (this happens on the 2013 also). Screw covers from the Moto-massage don't stay on. Dealer suggests gluing them in place! Quality is surprising poor for one of the top rated hot tub makers in the country. I wonder if they are falling on hard times.
On the plus side, this one came with the ceramic filters which can be cleaned in the dishwasher, but are much pricier to replace. The fountain feature is way cooler than in the 2013.
I'm also disappointed in the dealer/service. They appeared to have no information about what was different in the 2014 other than the choice of colors. This was the first 2014 they ever saw and it was installed in early July. They were kind of flying blind trying to fiddle with the noisy diverter control. Either they weren't given any updated info (shame on Hot Spring) or they didn't bother to review it (shame on them).
I am looking forward to going back to FL and last year's model where we don't have to turn the diverter control constantly, because the Moto-Massage works fine in the middle position. Our theory is that with the addition of the new calf jets, the massager can't get enough power unless the other jets are turned off. In the 2013, it doesn't require that.

Thanks for writing to Watkins about your 2014 Sovereign. You did not mention when you made your purchase, but Watkins announced those specific spa design changes to all authorized dealers in mid-February; we also advised that the 2013 Sovereign would remain available approximately 3 weeks past March 17th. I am sorry that your dealer did not share that with you. I will contact your dealer on Monday as we do have a fix for the issues you mentioned. Though I can't change the shape of the spa, I certainly can work with the dealer to resolve the issues you have raised. I will send you an email to the address you've provided and will remain available to assist as needed.

Still going strong after 14+ years
PostedJuly 24, 2014
Bought my Sovereign in May 2000. I still love it, and it is still going strong! I have had very few problems with it. Probably only spent 500 for maintenance over the 14 years, and I was able to do some things myself. The temp buttons on the control panel were not working, so I was able to pull the panel myself, and fix it, with a little female ingenuity! I think I also replaced the circ. pump, myself! When I have had to use the company to fix a problem, it was easy-breezy to get them here, and reasonable in cost. It is still energy efficient. Did I mention how much I love my hot tub?

I purchased a home that came with the Sovereign. It was then about 8 years old and I was amazed at the fact that it looked brand new. I have had it now 5 years and have found it to be a great source of relaxation, and entertainment. Easy to maintain and energy efficient, And.........it still looks new!
We love our new Sovereign...but as I sit in in after a long day on my feet, I think how nice it would be if it had more jets for the feet.... because that's always the part of me that hurts the most. If we even buy another spa, that's definitely a feature I'll look for. I use our spa 4-5 times a week and it is a wonderful therapeutic event... and a great place to catch up with my hubby.

Thank-you for your feedback, Hot Tubber! We appreciate the foot jets suggestion and are continually making improvements to our tubs based on those customer suggestions. You’ve experienced some of the very best things about having a Sovereign at home…relaxation at the end of a hectic day and a place to spend quality time with your special someone.
First hot spring spa I've owned. Grew up with Sundance and can't stand them. Saw the light as they say and we researched on all the brands every time we did it we would lead back to yall. It's easy to use its relaxing and fun water care is a breeze. The quality and craftsmanship is so wonderful. I'm a proud sovereign hot springs owner and will be a hot springs owner foe life can't ask for any thing better.

The Family and I enjoying our Hot Springs SOVEREIGN Hot Tub in the snow!
My wife and I were very hesitant about buying a hot tub, we weren't sure we would really use it. However we started looking at various manufacturers and models out of curiosity. We were also considering a pool to enjoy with our grandchildren and their parents. We ruled out the pool after talking to friends our age due to the maintenance required. We then pursued Hot Tubs, many dealers gave us what I would call "car dealer pitches" - saying anything they could to get us to jump and buy their discounted tubs that were supposedly rated the best in the industry. Then I did my research and discovered that Hot Springs was by far the #1 rated Hot tub manufacturer with the best warranty , lowest energy usage and highest quality. to my surprise we had a Hot Springs dealer approximately 2 miles from our home. We went to see what they had, the dealer gave us some literature and and told us to look at the various models. So we saw the Sovereign Tub which was designed to comfortably sit 6 adults. We then asked about the features, the sales person/owner gave us a full description of the design of the hot tub and he inquired about our usage because he said he wouldn't sell us something that he felt would fit our needs. He told us about his personal usage and about many of his customers experiences, especially the therapeutic benefits. My wife and I were so pleased with what we heard that we decided that it would be a great buy for us. The dealer did give us a discount on a floor model with the full warranty. Within a week the hot tub was delivered, the electrician came and ran the necessary wiring and breakers needed. So after 1 night of letting the chemicals do their job we were ready to get in our tub. It was approx. 20 degrees out so we took towels and robes outside with us. I will never forget that night because since then we have have enjoyed the use of our hot tub on average 5 nights/week. It amazes me that we get in for 20-30 minutes, get out in 20 degree weather and are not freezing because our body temps are so warm. We are sleeping better and we haven't used heating pads to eliminate ongoing back pain and body aches! The hot tub is truly a must have for anyone that has muscle or body pains. The water maintenance is minimal and our electrical bill only went up by $21 a month! Our young grandchildren love going in with us and it is now a centerpiece of our outdoor home! We thank you Hot Springs for designing and manufacturing a great product!

I purchased my first Hot Springs spa 10 years ago, the same model, Sovereign. I just decided to upgrade to get the salt water system. I received that and a whole lot more. I love the look, the lights, the waterfall... I cant say enough about the attractiveness of this spa with all the reliability of Hot Springs.

Our spa is used at all times of the day! We have enjoyed it even during the daytime (our 4 yr. old grandson loves to go in). My husband had knee surgery shortly after our tub was installed and it has been great therapy for him. What a nice retreat for all of us! The staff at Great Atlantic has been great in helping us get set up!

I am thrilled to know that you and your family are enjoying your Hot Spring, Sovereign hot tub. The hot tub experience is truly a delightful retreat for all. As well as providing your husband with therapeutic relief, we wish him a speedy recovery. Great Atlantic is a wonderful dealer and as you know they truly care about their customers.
Welcome to the Hot Spring Family and Happy Hot Tubbing!
I have had the tub several years and have never once experienced "buyer's remorse". I think I mad a great decision buying the tub and use it often. I purchased mine with a gazebo and love the privacy it adds. The kids love the tub too, and all of them have their favorite spots!
Very Pleased!
Jeff

Happy B-day to my 13 Year Old Sovereign
PostedJanuary 21, 2014
I've owned my Sovereign since February 2001 and it's been a tremendous investment. Yes, like anything that's 13 year's old it's needed a little attention over the years. I've replaced filters, pillows, aux. control panel, ozone III controller (twice) and the Smart Jet valve and o-rings. Long staples were used to attach the siding when it was originally manufactured and some of those staples have fallen out. I've replace the cover a few times when the styrofoam inserts became water logged. But if any of us sat outside in the elements for 4,745 days without a break, faithfully kept almost 400 gallons of water circulated and warm and got ignored for periods of time that exceeded the manufacturer's recommended intervals, we too might show a little age.
I've found a few mice living in the control department but hey, if you were outside and it was 15 degrees, you might find a warm/dry place to "hide out" too. Sorry mouse lovers, traps and peanut butter took care of that issue.
If you're considering a Hot Springs unit, I highly recommend you find a spot that is elevated off the ground such as a properly engineered deck. I had an engineer architect a deck supported by nine individual foundation points under the spa. The decking prevents moisture from collecting and puddling around the base. Build a lanai over the unit and cover the lanai with a custom made canvas cover that allows moisture to drip through and not pool. The lanai and cover will protect your spa from the direct sun light, falling limbs, ice storms, etc... I lost my first two covers from falling limbs in the first two years. I figure the lanai has paid for itself over the years.
Overall, the unit has performed faithfully and like any complicated mechanism, it needs attention from time to time. Fortunately I'm a fairly "handy" individual and I've been able to do much of the work myself.

Dear Hot Tubber,
Thank you for the tremendous detail and feedback. I certainly hope others learn from your review, and follow some of your recommendations. I'm thrilled to hear you have enjoyed your spa for 13 wonderful years, and that you continue to hot tub regularly. I'm sorry to hear there have been a few bumps in the road, but it sounds like your sense of humor and regular maintenance of your spa have created some innovative solutions.
We are here to support your ownership experience and answer any questions you may have. I certainly hope you don't have any more mice problems. Perhaps you need to hide some peanut butter and cheese on the other side of the yard :)
Thank you for being a Hot Spring Customer. We wish you many more years of happy hot tubbing!

I am so happy to be able to write this review. I recently received a Hot Spring Sovereign. This was one of the BEST gifts I could have ever asked for. I use my spa at least 3-4 times a week. The relaxation that I get and the family togetherness makes it all worth it. Thanks so much to Springdancehottubs & Hot Springs Spas for having a wonderful product.
