We have a 2010 Grandee. When we brought it home and set it up it was a god send. I fly Search and Rescue in the RCAF and my body is beaten and broken after 14 years of active duty. The moto masage was a major selling feature and it provided me many hours of relief after long missions. Sometimes it was the only "non-medicinal" way I could get my messed up back moving again for the next flight, not to mention the "de-stressing" it enabled.
However, the "new tub" joy didn't even last a year. The bar top lights started to act weird first, replaced under warranty. Then the screws attaching the headrest perches started rusting. Replaced under warranty. Then the control box went out. Replaced under warranty. The heater died, replaced under warranty. That is all within a 2 year period and I am fastidious about water quality and chemical balance.
Then 2 years after purchase we were transferred to a remote location where there is no dealer. Within the year, both moto massage heads just stopped moving. So much for my therapeutic soak. Kinda ticked me off every time I got in it then. Discovering we would be paying around 100 bucks a piece plus shipping only ground salt into the wound and I elected not to replace them on principle.
Now, barely 4 years after it first came home, it's leaking somewhere buried deep in the foam. Just enough to drop the level about 1" a day and soak the concrete pad. I would attribute the leak to the cross country move, but it spent all last year in the exact spot it is right now without a leak. Now, I'm down to trying to find it myself (with my messed up back and neck) by pulling glued panels off and digging through acres of foam to find the trickle before the snow fly's and everything freezes solid. Yep, end Sept things freeze up around here.
Unfortunately, as much as I want to like it, I must recommend others avoid this model. Or get rid of it before it runs out of warranty. Or maybe look for a tub that at least doesn't have spray foam stuck to everything to give you a fighting chance of fixing it yourself if need be.
We are due to be transferred again in the next 10 months and this time I think we will just let the hot tub sell with the house and move on to a different tub/brand...

First of all, thank you sincerely for the tough job you do as a member of the RCAF! I am sorry to read that the spa is not the same source of joy it was in the beginning. I would like to look into getting those moto jets replaced for your back and what we might do about a leak in the spa. The foam, though aggravating to dig through, does prevent heat loss from the spa and supports the shell of the spa when it is full of hot water and people. If it didn't stick to everything, your electric bill would probably be thru the roof! I would like to work with you and see if there is a service provider we might bring in to do the repairs. Unhappy with ACE System

Was sold on the fact that the diamond electrode would last approximately 4 years and cost $400 - $500 to replace. Later learned that 14,000 hours of use is the life so if you use your tub just once or twice a week, then yes, you will get 4 years. Also learned that the replacement cost is $800+.
I feel lied to....working on trying to get a 3rd electrode installed and my tub just turned 3 years old.
PS....my gray cabinet has dis-colored to a not so nice army green in places.

Water quality is a challenge

First of all, I love my hot tub. I have been in it daily since we had it delivered. It is roomy, has good jets, and as added a lot to my life quality.
The only down side, after 2 months, is the difficulty of maintaining water quality. I think the problem starts with the set up kit. When you read the instructions that come with the spa, they name certain chemicals that you are suppose to use. The names of the chemicals in the start up kit do not match those in the instructions. The second part is trying to accurately determine the amount of chemical to use. The instructions seem vague to me and I am still struggling to get it all to work. So many variables affect water quality and I do struggle with this aspect.
I would like something that tells me that when testing the water if it shows X then add the following chemicals in the following amounts. In addition, it would have been nice to have had measuring devices included with the spa. For example, when you add ounces of something, do you use a dry ounce or a liquid ounce? I think if I can get this part of using my spa down, I would then considerate it perfect.

Yes, we recently purchased a Grandee Hot Tub after owning a Grandee previously for 10 years. My wife and I use it several times a week, we both enjoy it highly, the jets are very powerful and easy to use, the lighting system is awesome, as is the filtering system. Quality built to last. We highly recommend the Hot Spring Grandee Hot Tub

best money i ever spent . a good constructed spa. with good features. love the back massages. the salt water system is very good . no chemicals really to add. and i love it that i can put the filters in the dishwasher to clean them.

We Just purchased our 2nd Grandee -- a 2013 model from Snake River Pool and Spa (Boise, ID). couldn't be happier with both the spa and the purchase experience! the team at Snake River are awesome; They are tuned into the Hot Spring products, and tuned into the customer -- from the purchase decision to the delivery, set-up, operation and water chemistry education; its the same store under the same management I enjoyed working with over 20 years ago. Hot Spring you have a great dealer there in Boise and Twin Falls, ID
As for the spa itself; we couldn't be happier! from the controller features to the jets themselves, the Grandee has all of the features we were looking for -- jets with underwater adjust-ability, "volume control" air controls on top, good strong jet pumps, and enough jets to cover most any individual or group need. I'm especially fond of the DX moto-massage; its just a superb therapeutic experience and I'm glad there are two of them in our spa. Another thing I like is the continuous filtration and a large surface area of the filters themselves.
We decided on the Grandee instead of the Vista because we wanted the more open, seating; this provides wonderful flexibility in jets to customize exactly the kind of therapy you want. my wife loves the soothing 7 or sometimes no jets at all, while I enjoy the full strength of the rotating jets or the moto-massage. The lighting options are wonderfully flexible too and can create most any mood you want.

We are totally enjoying the spa, every night we can't wait to get in...and now we are sleeping better than before....what a great investment. The new lift system make opening the spa so easy, even my mother (78) can do it with 1 hand.
Party time at my house 7 days a week!!!

My first electric bill after purchasing hot tub was $180 (40%) igher than any bill I have ever had - was promised bill would not be more than $40 higher.
Can't seem to get water right and get conflicting advice from different people at store where I bought tub.

Twelve years with my grandee

Over these 12 years I have had more than 12 leaks, the first within the first year, have lost at least 2.5 years of time using it due to the time it takes to make repairs, have replaced the motomassages, gone through several heaters, several pumps, several ozonators, and many other parts, and it has left me with many memorable times, i.e. the time my son's future in-laws came from NZ and were looking forward to the hot tub, and it still was not fixed. The countless times when social events were unable to include using the hot tub, and the countless times of inavailability of therapeutic use of the machine. I am currently dealing with a leak, and a dead pump, it took them one month to come and see it, and now it will need to be put on blocks to find yet another internal leak,and since this is a scenario all too familiar to me, it will be months before I can use it again. Exact thing as last summer. Lost several months. What a piece of garbage. Words cannot describe my disappointment.

I purchased this hot tub in early 2008 and had to relocated under two years to another city. I moved it with me but couldn't use it for about 3.5 years. I plugged it yesterday and the tub fired up like nothing, all parts are working perfect with no issues at all. It seems like a brand new tub.

Terrific purchase for first time spa

After reviewing different manufacturers we chose the HotSpring Grandee based on features, comfort and reliability. We had the spa incorporated within our back yard remodel which included giving it a built-in look. Our main reason for selecting this particular model was for it's size and therapeutic capabilities from the variety of jets and in particular the moto-massage.

I bought a grandee spa from a hot springs dealer in fresno Ca. When I bought the spa the sales guy gave me the the wrong breaker for the spa when I brought this to their attention they called me a liar , lucky the installer backed me up on it , anyways about a month later the massage jet quick working so I called the service tech to fix it and they made a huge ordeal because they had to drive up to the mountains where I live, six months later the gfi breaker burned up and again they complained about coming out again ,finally I told them don't bother I will fix it myself two years later the heater went out ,that I fixed myself ,I will never buy another spa from that co. Out of fresno, worst customer service i ever seen,the funny thing is I had three friends that bought spas and i told them Do not buy from hot springs in fresno ,so they all listened and bought from other dealers ,thats what happens when you have bad customer service ,you think $12,000.00 for a spa would buy you better treatment from a company ,think twice before you buy from them ,make sure you know how to work on them yourself

Good morning, Tom - I've not heard from you in the past week. I did contact the dealer in Fresno; they believe you might be the owner of a 2004 Grandee installed in October 2004. Their serv mgr, w/them since '08, said he has no records of you calling since '06. Though the warranties on a 2004 spa expired several years ago, the dealer is still interested/willing to provide service. Do give me or the dealer a call if we can help.

How do I get rid of this thing?

This hot tub came with the house we purchased. My main complaint is that hot springs does not sell a durable cover. We purchased a new cover shortly after we moved in, and within a year it had holes in it from tree branches falling on it and squirrels chewing on it. The cover gets full of water, it weighs a ton, and it looks terrible. If I could find a cover that could withstand the outside elements, I might not hate the hot tub so much.

We do make a great cover that meets safety standards, looks great with a minimum of care and can be opened by one person. What a game changer! Walked in to a HotSpring store on a Monday morning after putting my home up for sale. Within 1 hour I had decided to buy a Grandee and Take my home off the market! Our sales person, Patsy has to be the best in the business. She explained everything in great detail and never tried to "pressure" sell us anything. Now, just having received my spa I feel like a new person. A back yard and patio that was rarely used for the last six years has become the focus of our home. Every morning after an hour soak in the tub I feel refreshed and invigorated. This (Grandee) has to be one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life! thank you Patsy and thank you HotSpring!

Have had since 2000. Replaced 2 pumps and some wiring, that's about it! Hot Springs are expensive, but appear to be worth it. Definitely get "plastic" Redwood sides !

I've had my hot spring spa for 15yrs. and it still looks good and more important operates almost like new. I take care of the service myself for the most part and that is a real plus. I do recommend anyone looking for a quality spa shop others and then go see hot springs.The difference will be easy to see.

A little hard to get the chlorine concentration just right. Otherwise, it's a great spa ... better quality than others I have seen.

Still In Love After 7 Years

I just emptied and refilled my spa as I do roughly every 3-4 months. We have had the Grandee for more than 7 years and the spa looks great. The pearl-colored interior looks new. I do need to replace the cover but the Grandee has been a wonderful part of our home entertainment and relaxation. I highly recommend this product as Hot Springs is the number one product!
