Most cost effective purchase ever!
PostedJanuary 13, 2014
I bought my High Life in 1991! It's served us well through the past 22+ years with two service calls in its life. I can't say enough about its longevity and reasonable operating cost here in Michigan (I use 220). I'd STILL be using it but a tree crashed onto the house and it during a huge ice storm in late December and sadly, neither my roof nor the spa survived the ordeal. But I can't tell you how many friends bought cheaper spas and have had to replace them many times
since my initial purchase! No matter what my insurance company says, it's back to Hot Springs for the next one!

This 1995 Highlife was purchased as a floor model and has been used nearly daily since then with very few maintenance issues. I would highly recommend and will certainly purchase another, IF, this one Ever stops operating.

Hot Springs Grandee Hot Tub
PostedDecember 25, 2013
I previously owned a Grandee for 23 years and was very happy. But, after 23 years it was showing its age so I recently purchased a new Grandee. It is fantastic and I am very pleased with all the improvements. I can't wait to get in the new tub. It is so comfortable and the jets make it a amazing experience. I think it is the best hot tub! Have loved our Grandee for 8 years!!!
PostedDecember 10, 2013
As the title says, we've had ours for nearly 8 years and absolutely love it!!! The only issues we've ever had was the control panel inside the spa went out but it was under warranty and was fixed promptly. And the corner rubber neck rests don't do well in the Arizona heat/sun, even though we use the cover all the time. They eventually just warp and don't stay on so we just go without and don't even really notice them. But all else is tremendous! The family loves it, our friends love it and it's a big hit when we throw backyard parties!!! Can't recommend it enough! :)
Response from HotSpringBy The Hot Spring TeamMarketingDecember 12, 2013
Dear Hot Tubber,
Thank you for your review, and product feedback. I am happy to hear you've enjoyed your Grandee for 8 wonderful years! I'm sorry to hear about the neck rests. I will be following up with our Product Team to look in to your feedback. It does get pretty warm during Arizona summer.

Your backyard sounds like a wonderful destination for your friends, neighbors, and family. We are so glad your Hot Spring has been able to bring everyone together for some outdoor fun--and spa time! Please let our team know if you need any assistance in the future.

Happy Holidays and Happy Hot Tubbing!

We purchased our spa just over 1 year ago. We have experienced constant problems right up until today. Lighting problems, stereo problems, salt sensor problems, rusting and now numerous surface blistering. We are so sorry we purchased this HotSpring Grandee spa from Plaza Pool and Spa, Inc. here in Farmington, MO. You have to be a Rocket Scientist to own and operate this spa.

Fantastic!
PostedNovember 12, 2013
We purchased the Grandee because my wife wanted a hot tub. I'm 6'4" tall and wanted plenty of space and this tub provides that perfectly. I am in it every night it isn't raining.
The tub and the service we got from our dealer in Ft. Wayne, Indiana are both fantastic! We did a fair amount of shopping and research when we bought our tub and there's no doubt we picked the best tub and purchased from the best dealer !
We could not be happier and the guy who bought the tub because his wife wanted it,never, ever wants to be without it!
Thank you so much Hot Spring and Pools,Patio and spas in Ft. Wayne Indiana!

The tub it self is great but a service call to the dealer is $ 162.00 just for them to come check it out. Not work needed. Year round pool is the dealer in my area. Only place recommend . So I am not that happy with service.

Purchased the Grandee because of my family of four. My two children are eleven and sixteen and they always have there friends over, so the large Grandee tub was the perfect fit for my household. We are enjoying it so much. It has made my family closer then ever. Sometimes I'm in it twice a day. I'm retired law enforcement and after 20 years of having a gun belt strapped around my waist, my lower back was always in some sort of pain. Well not no more!! Hot Springs took care of that problem. And I also find that a 20 minute soak before bed will do wonders for a good night sleep.. Thank you Hot Springs. I should have made this purchase 10 years ago.

Faulty parts
PostedOctober 4, 2013
We purchased a Grandee a few years ago. The first winter, we owned it less than a year. The water drained out, due to a faulty plastic connector. It was hundreds of dollars to fix, since when it drained, the heater broke as well. They wouldn't cover the heater since they claimed it was our fault. The next year, another connector broke, more $$ to fix that. They cover the cost of the part, but not the labor to fix it. So this has been a very costly unit due to faulty parts which do not do well in winter climates.

Thank you for providing feedback about your spa experiences. As the spas are built and insulated for year-round use, I am concerned to read of your situation and want to know more. I will write to direct email address and would like to speak with your dealer to learn the specifics of their repairs. Watkins appreciates your spa purchase; it should provide you with warmth and enjoyment throughout the winter as it does for thousands of other Hot Spring owners. I look forward to working with you and your dealer to resolve your concerns in the very near future!

I bought the Grandee in my new house. I had owned a in the ground spa before. I like the above ground much better. Jet quality is incredible. Install simple . I had a few water problems that were solved by calling Hot tub store. I had a issue with warranty and the repair man showed the same day I called. 2 months in I highly recommend this spa.
Love this thing.

Excellent tub, not too happy with pricing
PostedSeptember 27, 2013
I did a lot of research before purchasing a tub. I used to travel quite frequently with my high-stress consulting job, and became accustomed to bad hotel beds. Thankfully I had hotel hot tubs available at my disposal. A few years ago, after several months of 80 and 90 hour work weeks, I had a seizure (first and only time) and broke my back. After several months of physical therapy, my therapist recommended a tub for home and a change in lifestyle. It took me a year or so to do the research on tubs. I went to several local expos at the fairgrounds, did more than my fair share of reading on the Internet, and spoke to many friends.
All of the things you look for in a quality tub are found in a Hot Spring tub: the ability to adjust air flow, heavy gauge insulation, low energy consumption, a skirt that detaches, technology and ease of use; but most importantly, warranties. The number one complaint I had heard about hot tubs is that the dealers are typically fly-by-night operations, and that many tubs are made to break. My friends who have worked with the local dealership, Regina, gave them high marks. Their reviews on Google and Yelp were equally as positive. After being sold on the dealer and the manufacturer, I selected the Grandee. The dedication to customer service on the Hot Spring web site (in these reviews) was a big component that sold me on Hot Spring.
I had been looking at a smaller tub, but it was the dealer who also pointed out that while sitting in a circle, in a smaller tub, most of the occupants knees would be touching. The smaller the tub, the larger the overlap. I like to be close to my friends, but there are boundaries, hence the Grandee.
I've only had the tub for a few days, so I can't speak much to the energy consumption, but it's a solid tub and well thought out. I'm already sleeping better. I have two issues with the overall experience, however:
1# Hot Spring is running a promotion now for a free ACE saltwater system. I purchased my tub in mid-August, and just took delivery of it #over a month#. I also paid $1300 for my ACE system, which is now being given away for free. I'm pretty hot under the collar about this. The prices have gone up a little in a month, but not $1500. I feel like I was mis-led. When I purchased, I asked the dealer whether there were any promotions coming up, and they notified me they were unaware of anything. I paid cash for my tub, and waited... for five weeks. By the time it arrived, and without even having used it, the price had gone down due to the free ACE system. I really not happy about this. If you're considering purchasing a tub, you may want to discuss this with the dealer. My dealer is unable to do anything as they state that it's a National campaign and that Hot Spring won't honor a free ACE system if a contract is signed outside of a September 20 to September 30 date. I feel like I lost out on $1300 -- don't let the same happen to you. Make sure you discuss something like this with your dealer. If they're not willing to honor a change in pricing, you may want to think twice. I think that Hot Spring really needs to address this with its dealers and people like me, who purchased, and then lost out on $1300 while waiting on the tub to be manufactured. Most retailers nowadays will provide you the cost difference if the price of an item changes.
2) The overall water maintenance procedures. If you buy a tub, you will receive paperwork --- a lot of paperwork. The kit with the ACE comes with water quality instructions. The tub manual has water quality instructions. The chemicals have instructions. The dealer has instructions. There are water quality instructions on pretty much everything to the point where it becomes overwhelming. I know that the water quality is the primary component in the longevity of the tub, but honestly, it has become overly complex. Hot Spring should consider a standardized look and feel, standardized chart, one size fits all that they can put in with any manual, product, chemical, etc. As someone who is a first time hot tub owner, my head is still spinning. And what it comes down to are four things to test, but I have 7 sets of differing instructions.
I plan to check back in and post another review after 6 months of ownership to provide updates on energy efficiency, ease of use, care and maintenance. In the meantime, do your homework and be sure to negotiate with your dealer on any price changes so you're not as unhappy #or $1300 lighter) as I am.

Thanks for providing the in-depth feedback and stressing the importance of doing thorough research before making a purchase. The ACE promotion was explained/offered to all authorized dealers ahead of time. Each chose whether to participate or not; it appears that, perhaps, your dealer chose not to participate. I also appreciate your feedback about the written water care instructions. Because not every spa owner finds the same water care system beneficial, we do offer details about the different choices they have. If you have questions as you decide which system best suits your hot-tubbing habits, give us a call. One of our Customer Service reps will listen and address your concerns with you

It's been pretty easy to own and maintain, so far the only problem we've had is one of the nobs falls off almost every time you get in. the rest seem to be fine. Just need to figure that one out......

Fourth Spa
PostedSeptember 25, 2013
This is my 4th spa. We bought our first spa over 20 years ago and decided to upgrade to a Grandee because the kids and grandkids (8) all loved the spa. However, Hurricane Sandy destroyed the spa so I replaced it with a new Grandee which we just love. Bought another spa for our main residence and love it too. I highly recommend the Hot Springs Spas as they are worry free.

Our Grandee Spa has become a focal point in our everyday lives. It's like being able to take a mini-vacation whenever you want to! A 20-minute soak in the spa, at any time during the day really helps to relax our hectic daily routine. The large size, and many different seating options, combined with the multiple jet-settings is perfect for 1-person, or a party! Life is good... but our HotSpring Spa makes it better!

GREAT spa....When it is working Correctly
PostedSeptember 24, 2013
After owning the GRANDEE spa for THREE months We have found it to be VERY healing when the spa is working. BUT it has NOT worked correctly half of the time.
Techs have been out to replace display panel, and several times to figure out how to keep the water clear. They disconnected the OZONATER and the water is SPARKLING! However, we are waiting for another repair...circulation pump is out this time.
TOO many malfunctions for a VERY expensive spa!!
Getting the service Techs out here has been an issue too.

ACE System Issues
PostedSeptember 23, 2013
My wife and I bought this tub new in July 2013. Overall we love the tub. We have had issues with the ACE system or maybe we don't have a good understanding of what it is supposed to do. The long and short is the ACE system has NEVER maintained the Chlorine level in the Tub.
Below are my water numbers:
Chlorine = 1 PPM
PH = 7.4
Calcium = 40
Alk = 80
SALT = 1600
ACE Level is a 5
Tub size is an 8
Filters are clean.
Free Chlorine and Chlorine are the same readings. Have shocked the tub several times. Copper (.1) was present and the dealer used a filter to remove it.
Water clarity is Great.
Bather load is 2 adults and one child 3 hours per week. Have used 2 bottles of Chlorine to maintain the 5PPM level since we bought the tub.
The dealer has worked with us extensively to resolve the issue including replacing the ACE element. Hats off to them. They do not understand why we are not getting more Chlorine production. The ACE system has to be in the boost mode most of the time to get ANY Chlorine production. The ACE controller is clear of any faults.
I hate to say it but I feel this is a design issue. I can't see where the system is producing enough Oxygen to manufacture the amount of Chlorine it needs to maintain 5PPM under level 5 bather load.
Did I mention that we do not allow anyone in the tub without showering first and my daughter has to have her hair up?
Extremely doubtful it is soap in the swim suits as the same suits are used for an entire week prior to being washed.
As you can see we pretty much have exhausted everything. The ACE system would probably produce more Chlorine if the tub was smaller but quite honestly we purchased the ACE system ($1,200) under the notion that we would not have to add much Chlorine to keep the levels up. That is the part the is extremely disappointing.
Looking for answers....
